Charter Standard Development Club Status Celebration Event
The celebration of the Charter Standard Development Club Status took place at Eversley Park on 11/11/06 on a cloudy but dry afternoon. The park at Kings Worthy was the scene of celebrations by parents, players, coaches, friends and families as a plaque marking the achievement was presented to the club chairman, Andy court, by Charlotte Smith (FA Development Officer).
Another big event of the day was the match between coaches and parents of the club. It was a closely fought match with the coaches winning one-nil thanks to an Andy Norman twice taken penalty. Man of the match for the coaches was Ed Holmes with Nick Sellick picking up the award for the parents’ team.
Other attractions on the day included “Beat the Worthys Keeper”; a lucky programme draw; goal sweep; cake stall and tombola. The club’s treasurer, Mike Bridge, was asked to comment in the absence of the event organiser, Ian Snellgrove, who was taken to hospital as a result of his own over exuberant. Mike said that the day had been extremely successful and that, although they were not in a position to put in a bid for Wayne Rooney in the January transfer window, the club’s finances were rosy.
On his return from hospital, a slightly injured Ian Snellgrove thanked everyone who had contributed to the event, including the mums who had baked such an array of wonderful cakes.
Worthys YFC provides coaching and matches for girls and boys aged 9 and over. Anyone interested in joining the fun should contact Peter Wooldridge on 01962 884893.
