Saturday 2nd February
Worthys Girls played top of the table Winchester City A today. We now have 9 players in the squad which helped with subs today.
Gemma was named player of the match for Worthys & our latest member Anna was presented with the weekly medal for a good first game well played.
Final result Worthys Girls 0 - Winchester City A 12 BUT we are still smiling & enjoying our football.
Worthys Girls U12s V Proveya Ladies
Saturday 25 th January
We were well and truly thrashed today when we played 4th in the table Proveya Ladies.
Worthys Girls did put up a good match though. Chloe went in goal for the 2nd half. We only had 6 players - without subs this did not really help.
Nyema was named Player of the Match for her good sportsmanship and Chloe received the weekly medal for a good effort in goal.
Final score Worthys 0 - Proveya 13.
Worthys Girls U12s v Colden Common
2nd Round - Cup Match
Saturday 19th January
We did not get drawn to play in the 1st round of the Cup and so we were automatically put into the second round where we were drawn to play Colden Common.
We had only played this team a few weeks ago in the League where we beat them 4-2 - what would todays result be ?
The game kicked off at 10.45a.m. - and within minutes Chloe had scored the first goal for Worthys, Colden Common equalised - by half time the scores were equal.
Second half starts and Colden Common scored again, Elena scored another goal for Worthys and Chloe put a further 2 into the net - her 2nd hat trick of the season - the scores are now level at 4 - 4. We have to play extra time of 5 minutes each way - if the game was not decided after this then it would have to go to penalties. What would the outcome be after extra time ? The Referee blows the whistle for extra time to start and half way through the first half Chloe puts the goal in the net making it 5-4, whistle goes for half time - quick turn around and off we go again - these final 5 minutes were really nail biting but Nyema made an excellent job in goal and did not let anything get past her - whistle goes for end of the Match and Worthys Girls have WON 5 - 4 and are in the next round. Nyema was named player of the match by the opposition and also presented with the weekly medal. WELL DONE GIRLS.
WORTHYS GIRLS 4 V 2 COLDEN COMMON
Saturday 12th December
Todays match was going to be a crunch game as neither side have won a game this season but both have scored goals in previous matches.
The whistle went for the start of the game and after 5 minutes Colden Common had scored 2 goals - was this the end for Worthys Girls? Gemma went on to score a cracker of a goal and the score for half - time was 2-1 to Colden Common. I do not know what happened during the team talk at half time but during the second half Colden Common did not score any more goals, however, Chloe was the star of the match as she scored her first hat-trick of the season and the first for her team. We, Manager & Parents, were clock watching and by the time the final whistle was blown Worthys Girls had a well deserved win and their first 3 points of the season. Everyone was ecstatic. There were pats on the backs and hugs from a very very happy team ! FINAL SCORE Worthys Girls 4 - 2 Colden Common. Congratulations to Chloe as she was presented with the weekly medal and was also named Worthys Player of the Match by Colden Common. WELL DONE TO EVERYONE.
SATURDAY 24TH NOVEMBER
Worthys Girls U12s v Andover New Street
Well what I say - what a magnificent performance by the whole Team - 7 goals were scored in total and they seemed to hammer into the goals instantaneously.
Andover scored at one end then Chloe scored the first Worthys Goal - then Andover scored again - half time result - 2-1 to Andover. We had a change of goal keeper for the second half where Nyema replaced Rivkah but after a little while Rivkah was reinstated as Nyema had an injury. The goals kept coming and when Chloe scored the second goal to equalise there were some very excited parents and Manager on the side line - there was not much time to go - would Worthys get there first point of the season ? NO - Andover went onto score another 3 goals and won the match 5 - 2. Gemma was chosen by Andover as Player of the Match and Chloe was presented with the medal for a good all round performance and her 2 goals - Well Done.
Final Score Worthys 2 - 5 Andover New Street.
SATURDAY 10.11.07
Worthys Girls 0 v St Francis Raiders 6
Worthys Girls had to make a change in the side this week as our regular goal keeper - Rivkah - was unable to play as she had injured her ankle earlier in the week - what was I going to do about a Goal Keeper ? Thankfully Nyema stepped forward and she made a very good job of it - good to have 2 goal keepers on the team ! Once again the girls gave the opposition a good game but unfortunately came away with a 6 - 0 defeat. Nyema was nominated as Player of the Match and Georgia was presented with the medal for her good effort during the game. Once again thank you to mums, dads and friends who came along to support the girls. Our next game is not until 24.11.07.
Saturday 03.11.07
Worthys Girls 0 v 9 Winchester City A
Worthys Girls were the hostesses for this game at The Garison Ground v Winchester City A who are 2nd in the league.
I must say that ALL girls played extremely well - there were few attempts at the goal but unfortunately none of them went in for us !!
This week the girls were bright eyed end bushy tailed - they were certainly at their best and kept the opposition on their toes throughout the game. Rivkah was brilliant in goal and was named by Winchester City as our player of the match and the weekly medal was presented to our newest squad member, Abigail - Well Done to both of you. Thanks must also go to Len for his help today and to the Parents who came along to support the Team.
Final score Worthys Girls 0 - Winchester City 9.
Saturday 13th October
Worthys Girls U12s V Proveya Ladies U12s
Due to other committments only 6 girls were available to play today.
This caused a few problems during the match as the Team really did need to have that extra support to re-charge their batteries.
The girls were very quiet on & off the pitch - I have not known them to be this quiet as they are all capable of making a racket !!!
All girls performed well - Elena scored 1 of our goals & Chloe scored 2 - well done girls. Even though 10 goals got past Rivkah - she always had a smile on her face. Frankie was chosen by Proveya as Player of the Match - well done Frankie. Elena was presented with the weekly medal.
Thank you to mums and dads who came to support the team - this is very important to the girls.
Final Score - Proveya 10 - Worthys 3. 200% percent up on goals than last week !!! We have a theme "Things can only get better" & I am sure they will.
As I said at the match - if they did not want to play football then they would not turn up for a game - you are a great bunch of girls - so keep smilin'.
With Half - Term approaching our next game is 3rd November.
Satrurday 6th October
WORTHYS GIRLS 1 - 5 PORSTMOUTH LADIES
Worthys Girls U12 squad welcomed Nyema today - so we are now 8 in number. We had a home match today v Portsmouth Ladies. The girls played well but still need to get to grips will tackling and communication - I believe that they are a going to be a good team but these things take time & practice !! Portsmouth scored 2 goals in the first half and I must congratulate Rivkah on some great saves today - Well Done. During half time we had a team talk which proved to be worthwhile as during the second half Porstmouth scored another 3 goals but Elena scored the Worthies goal - Great stuff Elena! Final Score Worthys 1 - Pourtsmouth 5. Gemma was chosen by Porstmouth as Worthys Player of the Match and Rivkah was presented with the weekly medal for her great goal keeping - WELL DONE TO ALL OF YOU.
