Worthys Girls Under 15S

Worthy’s Girls this season have moved to 11 a side and have moved into the Surrey County Womens and Girls League Premier League West. The league includes teams from Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire as well as the opportunity to play in the Surrey Cup. The standard of the league is high but gives the girls the opportunity to play teams of a good standard from different Counties.

Last season this Worthy’s team were playing 6 a side at under 14. the A team in Division 1 and the B team in Division 2 of the Winchester and District League. Both teams had a fantastic season with the A team ending up Champions of the Winchester and District League Division 1 and Cup Winners. They also achieved the league and cup double only losing one game. During the summer the team won the Oakley and Brockham Tournaments and were runners up in the Andover and Basingstoke Tournaments. The B Team ended up third in Division 2 and Cup Runners up.

This season will be a year of learning and transition to 11 a side. Some tough lessons have been learnt already this season, with some heavy defeats on paper but the scores have generally not reflected the balance of play. So far the team has lost to Knaphill, Fleet Town Reds and Blues but secured a close fought win 3-2 against Whitegrove from Reading.
In the Surrey Cup Worthy’s with a change of formation beat Hamsey from the Premiere East Division 11-1, Worthy’s now go on to meet AFC Wimbledon in the next round of the Cup.

Training happens every week on a Thursday at Eversley Park Kingsworthy at 6:00pm. Training is carried out to a very high standard by Grant Orchard and Pete Arnett. Grant Orchard runs a very successful boys team and coaches boys academy squads.

The Team have a great spirit and will go from strength to strength. A trip to Thorpe Park was arranged at the beginning of the season to integrate new team members and further team building activities will take place later in the season.

The squad, coaches and Manager are sorry that Holly Norman will be leaving the team soon to move to the USA with her family. We wish Holly every success in the future and thank her for her contribution to the team.
