play in their favour and put pressure on the Woking goal.

Lizzie Flesher was tripped in the box and Worthy's were awarded a
penalty. Becky Robb stepped up to take the kick but was denied by the
Woking keeper diving to her right. Soon after a Woking player handled in the area
and Worthy's were awarded a second penalty. This time Shanice Smith
blasted past the keeper. The game remained keenly fought until half time but
Worthy’s remained dominant.

Woking resumed the second half with real determination and commitment
and made several attempts on the Worthy's goal. Fran Benoist in the Worthy's
goal proved a match for all the goal bound efforts. Worthy's again fought
back and had two good opportunities to score but were denied by the Woking
keeper. The last 20 minutes witnessed a strong offensive on the Worthy's
goal but the back four of Arnett, Oland, Smith and Arundel played
superbly.

At the final whistle Worthy's were exhausted but put in a terrific
performance to beat top class competition. Thanks to all the parents
friends and relatives who made the two hour journey.

Whitegrove (2) V Worthy’s Girls (3)

Worthy’s got off to a disappointing start going one down following a back pass that forced a goalkeeping error. Having recovered from the early goal Darla Bush scored her first goal for Worthy’s with a well taken shot from outside the area. Again Worthy’s suffered a futher set back conceding a penalty from an over exuberant tackle but luckily the penalty taker missed the goal completely. However despite this stroke of luck soon after as a result of some lapse defending Whitegrove edged in front again.
Worthy’s drew equal within minutes after Kayleigh Moss broke free to slot past the keeper. Worthy’s took the lead just before half time when Shanice Smith powered home a drive from outside the box.
The second half saw chances fall to both sides in an evenly fought game but Wothy’s hung on to their lead to record their first Surrey League victory 3-2.
Lauren Cargill received Worthy’s player of the match for her work rate and commitment.

Knaphill 7 Worthys 2

Worthy’s had a disappointing start to the Season losing out to Knaphill 7-2 away from home. Knaphill play on a Mens Combined Counties League pitch which is also the home of Woking ladies. The facilities are immaculate with fantastic changing rooms, dug outs and refreshment area something for us to aspire to at Worthy’s.
Knaphill went in front early in the game with a long shot over the keepers head but worthy’s quickly equalised from close range through Zoe Gibney. Knaphill went on to score three more before the break making the half time score 4-1.
Worthy’s pulled back another goal through Zoe Gibney but again Knaphill showed their superiority by scoring a further three goals. The final score did not reflect the amount of possession but more Worthy’s inexperience at 11 a side. New signings Darla Bush and Lauren Cargill made good contributions to the team.
Stephanie Oland was given player of the match for Worthy’s for her stalwart efforts in defence
