Report

26/09/09 AFC Dummer H 0-6

After last weeks 2-5 loss to Littleton we had hoped for something to lift our spirits this week. The team from Dummer certainly had a distinct height advantage with half their team being a good 6 inches taller than any of us. Our game didn’t flow in the way it can and the longer legs of the Dummer defenders thwarted many of our attacks. However, we were not without our own chances and looked most menacing when the ball was played wide to go down the wings. We went down with a final score of 6 – 0. Plenty of work to do at training guys !!

 12/09/09

 Hampton Park

 6-1

What a great start to the season. Worthys exerted dominance on the game right from the start and were rewarded with the first goal after 20 minutes of repeated attacks. Kyle Mason lined it up and looped the ball over the Hampton keeper’s head from about 16 yards. Hampton replied smartly with a swift and decisive counter-attack only a minute later to level the score. Worthys kept applying pressure and some 5 minutes later took the lead again through our new signing Darren Skinner. Matt Cooper played an outstanding match in a defensive central midfield role that cut out the ball supply to the Hampton forwards and he distributed the interceptions wide for the counter-attacks by George Leigh and Kyle Mason in the midfield flanks. 4 goals followed in the 2nd half as a result of sticking with this game strategy. Caspar Larcombe played in goal for our injured regular keeper, Brad Page. His long clearances set up several attacks and shooting opportunities for the Worthys strike- force of Joe Moignard-Clark ( 1 ), Brandon Mitchell ( 1 ) and Darren Skinner ( 2 ). Well done all and congratulations to Brandon Mitchell who received the Man of the Match award in a match of excellent sportsmanship.
