Worthys YFC

Caspar Shane and Jack stayed in U11s so are now playing at the right age group and were joined by a strong U10 contingent from last year.

Our early training under the guidance of Andy Norman focused on 2 particular skills and 4 set play moves which have paid off well with the results so far achieved this season. The Normans have left for a 2 year stint in the USA and we look forward to Adam’s return. Sadly we also bid farewell in the same week to our goalkeeper , Cameron Morris who has moved with family to live in Australia

The boys can now confidently run with the ball and know to spread into space when we have possession, then close down when possession is lost to win back the ball. Our attacking throw set play consistently creates space down the wing and sets up goal scoring chances about a third of which are converted to goals. Our short corner set play is working well to create chances also some of which have been converted to goals. Our defensive strategy especially with opposition goal kicks is proving very positive in stopping promising opposition attacks.

We shall continue to practise and refine these moves and skills this season and begin work on free kicks and ball dribble skills.
