WORTHYS U9’S 1- HATCH WARREN U9’s 2
Hatch Warren won at Eversley Park last Saturday staying top of the league
During a closely matched first half, Worthys' wingers Kel Akpobire and Joel Barney made some great chances, but were resisted by the tough Hatch Warren defence. Worthys' Mark Ridge and Sam Andrew-Power were equally strong at keeping Hatch Warren back.
Into the second half, Kel Akpobire, with a well taken free kick, created mayhem in the box and Hatch Warren conceded an own goal. They fought back hard, being denied again and again by Worthys' goalie Sam Morgan, but eventually Conor Pullin got through to score Hatch Warren's first goal. Fired up, Daniel Charlesley soon achieved a great second goal.
Worthys stayed determined, Jacob Conroy and Hugo Cramoyson pushed hard, but Hatch Warrens' goalie blocked any shots. A superb performance by Worthys topped off an excellent first season for them to finish 5th in the league.

WORTHYS 1 – CK ANDOVER 1

Worthys were at home at Eversley Park last Saturday, a tricky game with strong gusts blowing across the pitch.
Both teams fought well, Kel Akpobire for Worthys had a number of breakaways, but it was Andover’s Conor Mumford who scored the first goal after ten minutes.
Worthys tightened up their defence with Jacob Conroy in goal and Joel Barney at the back keeping the ball away. Worthys’ Captain, Jonty Doyle, played a good match in centre field and Jake Freeland-Searle had a good number of attempts on goal, but not quite hitting the spot.
Early in the second half Kel did another of his great runs and crossed the ball, which passed its man but landed firmly in the net for an equaliser.
Cameron Speirs for Worthys had several scoring chances but was kept out by the CK Andover defence. A good match ending in a fair 1-1 draw.
JON HOLBORN SEMI-FINAL
Worthys 2- Tidworth Royals 5
Worthys under 9’s played another hard fought battle against Tidworth Royals, this time in a cup semi-final.
Tidworth started strongly with a goal by Callum Duff in the first few minutes, and another by Callum McKevitt, while Worthys were reeling. Worthys regrouped inspired by Captain Jonty Doyle, who scored from a fine team move started by Kel Akpobire and helped on by a stunning cross by Jake Freeland-Searle. Then Worthys’ Cameron Speirs forced an own goal to take Worthys in at half time on level terms.
In the second half Tidworth came back and Worthys were thankful to have goalie Sam Morgan on stunning form. Defenders Sam Andrew-Power and Joel Barney put in some resolute defending but eventually the pressure told and McKevitt and Casey Hartle took Tidworth to 4-2. Mark Ridge replaced the ailing Doyle but as Worthys pressed, McKevitt got his hat-trick to take Tidworth into the final.

TIDWORTH ROYALS 2 WORTHYS 0
Worthys under 9’s team fought a hard battle against Tidworth Royals at Bulford Barracks ground last Saturday. A tough match throughout, Tidworth held play for much of the first half but some great saves by Sam Morgan as well as some strong defending by Sam Andrew Power and Jake Freeland Searle kept the ball away from the net. Eventually Tidworth’s Callum Duff succeeded with a super goal putting his team 1 up.
Worthys fought back and took their game back towards the Tidworth goal but unfortunately failed to land the ball safely home despite sterling work by Cameron Spears and Kel Akpobire. Jonty Doyle held his team together as well as doing some great defending himself but another goal, this time from Luis Cleary during the second half put Tidworth 2-0 ahead. The fight continued to the end but Worthys could not get past Tidworth’s goalie and eventually conceded defeat.
UPPER CLATFORD 2 WORTHYS 1
Worthys under 9’s were pipped at the post last Saturday as Upper Clatford’s under 9’s scored the winner minutes from the end of a competitive but sporting game.
The first half featured end to end play with fantastic manoeuvres, skilful corners and superb saves from both sides. Worthys’ defenders Sam Andrew-Power and William White held a stout rearguard.
During the second half, the game moved on a pace when Upper Clatfords' Jacob Williams scored a well taken opening goal. Worthys’ captain Jonty Doyle spurred his team on. Cameron Speirs headed narrowly wide before his cross was superbly driven home by Jake Freeland Searle for the equaliser.
Jake then showed his defending skills with a marvellous drop to head off a shot by Upper Clatford, but birthday girl Camilla Dobson (9 on the day) got the perfect present by spectacularly driving home the winning goal.

Barton Stacey (0) V (2) Worthys U9's
After a weeks' delay, due to a frozen pitch, and played on the resulting mud-bath, Worthys under 9’s beat Barton Stacey to earn their place in the semi-finals of the Jon Holman Cup.
The first half was an even match, a number of near misses by Harvey McNaughton and some great play by Mark Ridge all enthusiastically encouraged by Captain, Sam Andrew-Power. Worthys’ goalie “safe-hands” Sam Morgan also kept a clean sheet.
During an exciting second half, Jake Freeland Searle scored after a heroic set-up by Jonty Doyle. A number of saves by both goalies, a couple of superb crosses by Cameron Speirs, denied by the Barton Stacey defence; when eventually Jake FS managed a second ball in the onion-bag, after a great kick by Worthys’ defender William White.
An enjoyable match with animated support for both teams resulted in the Worthys winning 2-0 to face Tidworth Royals next month.
